Pensacola State College Baars Building
In November of 2018, Florida Architects and Ajax Building Corporation broke ground on the first phase of a new 2-story, $34 million STEM building for Pensacola State College. This new facility will replace the existing 60-year-old Mary Ellison Baars Building on the Pensacola Campus and will culminate in a state-of-the-art facility for the college.
The new Baars Building will house an emerging technologies lab, math suite, computer and cyber forensics lab, cyber security, aviation maintenance, advanced manufacturing programs and other high-tech programs. Additional site improvements also planned for this project include new utilities, storm drainage systems, parking areas, new hardscaping, landscaping and irrigation.
FLA designs LEED® and Green Globes accredited buildings using the most innovative products, materials, and technologies available and their priority is to create state-of-the-art systems that provide the highest level of energy efficiency, air quality, comfort and cost-effectiveness. The PSC Baars Building is a Green Building Initiative with a projected goal of Three Globes Certification which is equivalent to LEED Gold Certification.
The completion of this project is scheduled for July of 2020.
